Story Planning: The Three Pups

Story Planning:
Deep up in the mountains of Colorado there was a small town with not much structure and or order. There were constantly people coming through but no one ever stopped. If people did stop they would have found a town full of stray dogs; they were all ages from newborn puppies to old wise dogs. Finally some hikers were hiking those mountains and walked right into a group of the dogs. The group they waked into was three younger dogs that had a ton of differences from breed, age and color but were the best of friends.
One dog was named Remington. He was a black lab who started out as a hunting dog and was by far the smartest and most aware of the group. He was followed by a Husky named Lucca who was somewhat aware of what was happening but got distracted easily from the task at hand. Finally the baby of the group was Reed he never had any clue what was going on and always loved everyone that was around. He was a standard poodle that would walk up to any old stranger and just love on them.

Authors Notes:

Here is my idea for my next story. I think I can turn this into a pretty detailed story where the hikers are trying to capture the three dogs and how the dogs outsmart them and how Remington saves the other two dogs when they let their guard down and allow the hikers to capture them. I think this piece will be a unique transition to the three fish story and the fishermen. They did a similar thing where they were all different on how they stayed away from the fishermen and finally one got caught. I switched the theme form fish to dogs because I enjoy dogs a lot more and on top of that the three dogs I used are three dogs in my life that all have these personality types.

Story Planning: The Red Bud Tree

There once was a long lost tale of a tree that not only was the most beautiful tree in all of the land but also had healing powers...

Three young Princess’s used to sit in bed every night and ask their mother to tell them the tale of the red bud tree. The mother would tell them all about a tree with such beauty and powers that it could heal anything and everyone that just smelled its beautiful buds. She told them about all the different cases where peasants and royalty would travel miles and miles into the woods and through the mountains until they came across the beautiful pink and red tree. They requested this story for ten years no matter how many times they had heard it, and every time their mother would be delighted to tell them again. One night they were patiently waiting for their mother who never came in. They ran to their father and asked where she was and why she wasn't there to tell them the story. The king responded with the sad news that their mother had fallen ill and probably would not make it much longer.

The girls went to their room and cried and while they were crying and holding each other the oldest piped up and exclaimed that she had the best idea... "We will go find the red bud tree!"

Author’s notes: I wanted to plan a story that was a little different than the original Red Bud Tree story. I think my rendition of it will be a little bit more in depth than the original and have a better point. In the original the three Princes separately went to find this tree just to be able to see it. When they thought it looked different and started arguing the King cleared up the argument and told them they went at different seasons and to not be concerned. I enjoyed the idea of the nature and adventure and that’s what I hope to focus most of my time on.

Story Planning: The Sacrifice of a Great Leader

Story Planning: Final Paragraph(s)
The King ran over to where king Robert had crashed to the ground. He grabbed his body and held him close as he showed him his gratitude and respect from one king to the next. He asked King Robert why he would sacrifice his life for his tribe. King Robert turned his head and said, “ They are my people, they trusted me with their life and what king am I if I could have saved them and didn’t?” With his final breathe he closed his eyes and his soul left his body and grief was stricken for miles and miles.
The King made sure his legend lived on. He created museums and monuments everywhere he could to show his gratitude and respect for the fallen leader. He promised King Robert that he would never let his story fade and he would always tell people about the huge sacrifice that he made to save his people. From then on the King promised to live out his reign just as King Robert would have, selfless and Respectful.

Notes: I think I want tell the story as if it was a tribe and another king rather than a monkey. As fun as that idea is I think the acknowledgement from one king to the next would be a great story line that I could rally go places with. Once I complete the first story then I can see myself going on to tell how the other king changed and started treating his people in his land. With everything political going on right now I thought it would be good to see a political side where all of the hate that was in the kings heart is changed and from the death of another great king he rises to the occasion and finishes out his reign as a respectful and selfless king.

Storytelling: The Giant Crab

The giant crab lived in the deep waters of a lake in Oregon. He was a sad crab but everyone only saw him as dangerous and mean.  He didn’t understand why! Typically what happened when he tried to meet new friends, was he would show his face and everyone would freak out. Then one of the animals would panic so bad they would end up drowning and while he was trying to save them everyone thought he was eating them and so they built up this hatred for him. Every day for years he did the same thing over and over again until he thought of a new way to show them he is their friend. He would sneak up on them and then they would have to listen to him. So, instead of showing his face he would swim deep under the water until he got to them and he would tap them on the foot and when he did that he realized he got the same ugly response from them. He was so hurt and sad that he gave up and decided to live alone forever.
One morning a young elephant slowly wobbled down to the lake with his mother and pack. This was his first time down to the lake and he was so excited. When he got there his mother sat him down and gave him the long lecture on how to be safe around the water and to look out for the crab. The elephant listened impatiently while dreaming of how cold the fresh water will feel on his back. Finally, his mother told him to go have fun. He watched as the big elephants stood guard watching for the rest of the pack as he ran into the water. As he ran he noticed the crab sitting far away to the west just sitting and watching everyone as they played and had a blast. He decided he was going to walk over and say hi. He slowly started walking that direction, making sure his mom did not see him slip away.
He slowly walked up to the crab and with a brave voice said, “Hello, Mr. Crab My name is Erik the Elephant and I wanted to know if you wanted to play with me.”
The crab slowly turned around and with tears in his eyes said, “Are you sure you want to play with me? No one really likes me and I don’t want to cause problems.”
The Elephant laughed and said of course we want you! Come on!”
From that moment on not only were the elephant and the crab best of friends but everyone respected the crab and realized that he was not mean. The crab got to explain himself and apologized for all of the problems that he had caused in the past.

The Moral of the story is don’t judge a book by its cover and always accept people for who they are. You never know when you are going to run across a crab in your life that could end up being your best friend.

Authors Notes: I really enjoyed writing this piece. I very rarely get to write childrens stories and so this was fun for me. I also enjoyed the fact that I could put a moral at the end because I felt like the story had a meaning. I hope you enjoy it!

Authors notes:

This is just a snip it of what I am going to turn this story into. I want to change it to where the crab is not the bad guy but portrayed like the bad guy. He is more of the outsider that just wants to fit in but can’t seem to get the right luck. In the end I think I am going to use a baby animal to show the rest of the animals that the crab is not a bad guy, he is just misunderstood. I think that this will not only change to be a positive ending but also give the book a moral code in the end, “Don’t judge a book by it’s cover.”

Story: The Twelve Long Years

Storytelling: The Twelve Long Years
It was a long, hard battle that the small town of Bend was unable to win. As much as the Bendites held their own, they were simply out numbered. Because of this loss they were forced to go and live off the land in the middle of Willamette forest. The Bendites were lead by a young leader that goes by the name of Christian. He was a great leader and took the blame for the loss of his town and decided he was going to do everything in his power to keep his people alive for them to reestablish a home. He wandered and wandered and finally gave up and decided to pray to God and ask for some sort of help. Once he asked and gave it up to him food was brought to him left and right. Him and his people were fed more than enough food at all times and in with that food they gave ten percent of it back to God as gratitude for keeping them safe and alive. There were a few close calls where bears and mountain lions were involved but no matter what happened he always kept them safe.
They made it six years and had lived successfully through anything and everything. During the seventh year many people became sick and it became hard to continue living and trusting in God.  People started blaming Him for the deaths of their people and they stopped trusting and believing in Him. It was Christians job to keep that faith going and to make sure the others did to. He declared a law that the people who refused to believe would be left and kicked out of their community. Many people got left behind, which was hard for Christian because he had worked so hard to keep the community together. After exiling several individuals Christian and the remaining people had to keep the community running smoothly. Shortly after Christian took this stand the lord blessed him with even more protection and food and the promise that one day they will have their town back.
Christian and his towns people kept up the faith and continued living in the land for another five years. Once five years hit Christian had a dream where the Lord told him to gather his things and go back to the town of Bend. He was so nervous and afraid that he ignored the dream for a few nights until it happened again. Finally he decided, because God had delivered thus far, they were going to start the trek out of the forest and see if they could take their land over again. People thought he was crazy but they followed and trusted that he knew what was best.

When they got back they walked in very hesitant but they trusted the Lord was watching over them. When they had searched the whole are they were shocked to find out that there were no signs of another community and they were free to move back in. They instantly started to rejoice and thank the Lord that he had delivered them through those long, hard twelve years.

Authors Note:
I decided that something had to have happened during those long twelve years talked about in the novel so I wanted to expand on it and make it my own. I had the idea and I just kind of ran with it. I had no idea that I was going to through in the religious aspect until it kind of just happened. There was not much about the twelve years in the original it just stated that they were in the forest and it lasted twelve years.
